Children at the Red Balloon are offered nutritious breakfast and lunch
options each day. Jeff Yalen -- "Chef Jeff" to the kids -- has
developed a healthy but fun menu for the kids since he started at the
Red Balloon in 2003.
Through our nutrition program, we seek to instill a love and compassion for the natural world,
our interrelated existence with it, and our interdependence.
GARDEN
A sustainable rooftop garden with four handmade planters provides students at the Red Balloon a hands-on opportunity to learn about the process of growing their own vegetables.
We want to
engage children's senses, have them experience and learn through doing,
delight in changes, and work cooperatively with nature and each other,
and promote healthy eating habits.
